A description is given of a group interview process used with candidates for a nine month, field-based teacher training program. Philosophy, technique, and issues of tutoring are presented to aid student teachers in sharpening tutoring, teaching, and communication skills. The establishment of a positive student self-concept and the prospective tutor's development of effective questioning techniques are two of the topics treated.
