Information Identification and Organization. Student Study Guide. Module I: Collection Management and Administration.
Bolvin, Boyd M.; And Others
This module on Collection Management and Administration introduces the student to circulation systems, records management, collection management, and interlibrary loans. The capabilities and limitations of various types of circulation systems and how to charge out and discharge materials are discussed. Units also cover how to use statistics; how to establish and maintain collections of materials through proper selection and periodic weeding; how to use interlibrary loan (ILL) forms for books, periodicals, films, and subject requests; and how to use the Alaska Library Network (ALN) Microfiche Catalog for interlibrary loans. The Alaska Union List of Serials (AULS) and the Alaska State Library Film/Video catalog are also covered, as well as application and eligibility for state grants to public libraries. Each unit has learning activities, self-tests, tests, and assignments. Answers to the self-tests are provided in the document, and a glossary is included. (THC)
