Teacher Skill Guide for Combatting Sexism. Module 12: Helping Students Identify with Role Models

The object of this module is to increase teachers' understanding of the function of role model play in their students' development and to aid teachers in identifying the types of role models that can open options for students. A four-step process is presented for teachers to use in facilitating their students' identification with nontraditional role models. An excerpt from a book on understanding the behavior, motives, and thoughts of children is provided. Handouts for workshop activities are included as well as a booklet for teachers to use with their students in classroom activities. (JD)
