Speech Improvement Language Development Programs. A Resource Manual for Speech and Language Clinicians.
Ginn, Mary E.
Intended as a resource manual for speech and language clinicians, the booklet addresses specific elements of speech improvement and language development programs for children with difficulties in those areas. An overview of professional literature regarding such programs is provided, focusing on such aspects as program definition and purpose, target groups, organizational models, class size, teacher training, and program efficacy. The delivery of services through speech improvement/language development programs is discussed in terms of such aspects as target groups, organizational models, identifying needs, and program components. Two organizational models for such programs are described (the direct service model and the team teaching model), and current programs utilizing each approach at various levels are reviewed. Included in the appendixes are descriptions of language screening/diagnostic tests and materials for speech improvement/language development, and sample forms for an individual education plan and a group instructional plan.
