A Computer Algorithm from DeMoivre's Theorem.

Details are given of a simple computer program written in BASIC which calculates the sine of an angle through an application of DeMoivre's Theorem. The program is included in the material, and the program's success is discussed in terms of why the approximation works. (MP)

Details of how observers on a moving ship can furnish an accurate report of wind velocity are provided. A method employing vector addition and some trigonometry is covered. Wind velocity is initially indicated through an anemometer and a wind vane. Ships are urged to radio weather data. (MP)
