This issue of the "Journal of Children and Youth" is dedicated to the education of gifted and talented children. Problems and possibilities of programs for gifted youth in the areas of educational policy, curriculum development, mainstreaming, characteristics of gifted students, program development and instructional approaches are discussed in 29 brief articles. This issue of the journal is presented as an advocate of the importance of providing gifted and talented youth with the most effective qualitatively different education possible. (Author/RH)
