Association of Literacy Educators and Researchers
The theme for the 45th yearbook of the Association of Literacy Educators and Researchers (ALER) was "Viewing Literacy through Innovative Lenses." This year's publication celebrates creativity, exploration, and forward-thinking approaches in literacy education. The articles within showcase the diverse and dynamic ways literacy is being re-envisioned, offering both fresh and enduring insights and practical strategies to inspire educators to foster literacy in today's world. The editors hope this year's yearbook ignites thought-provoking and reflective discussions around literacy education. ALER President Dr. Robin Pizzitola's presidential address encourages the reflection on ways to reimagine the field of literacy. The Sturtevant Award winner, "Examining Asynchronous Virtual Literature Circles and the Connection Between Literacy and Social Justice" investigates how diverse literature in virtual asynchronous literature circles influences teacher knowledge. The graduate award winners at the doctoral and master's levels also spotlight how myriad lenses inform work as literacy teacher educators and researchers. The final two sections of the 45th yearbook examine Innovative Lenses of Digital Literacy and Literacy Curriculum and Instruction. Whether you are a scholar, educator, or a student, this edition serves as an opportunity to reflect on and contribute to the evolving conversations about how literacy education can continue to grow in innovative ways.
