Five contributors, viewing the field from divergent phenomenological spaces, provide a variety of viewpoints on the status of the field of school psychology. In "Glimpses of the Future in Current Practice?" Randy W. Kamphaus discusses the changing nature of school psychology, its two identities today, and the need to adapt a core value for discussion of the future. "School Psychology and Schools: Training and Practice Tracks with No Ties?" by Harold R. Keller presents the viewpoint of a school psychology educator and documents the continuing need to address the child-school interaction and the schooling process. Prevention and systemic issues need future attention. In "School Psychology: A Good and Plausible Future" Timothy Z. Keith calls for a clarification of purpose which would integrate the several roles and activities of the school psychologist into a coherent orientation. "Should School Psychology Exist? Implications of Prevention, Research, and Training" by Joel Meyers provides a framework for the practice of prevention. "Professional Practice, Professional Nicknames, and Professional Diversity: A Prognosis for School Psychology" by Judith L. Alpert and J. Christopher Collier reviews themes regarding emphasis on schools and schooling, service delivery, professional identity, training and practice, and the need for action and change. (EMK)
