The handbook contains eight chapters on aspects of the education of multiply handicapped, hearing impaired children. Chapter 1, by R. Nowell, presents a service delivery model for the education of this population. In Chapter 2, Nowell and S. Landino discuss psychosocial assessment procedures and instruments. T. Frank and C. Chorney survey audiological assessment methods in the third chapter. In Chapter 4, Nowell et al. describe the use of a structured curriculum. Nowell considers the selection of appropriate communication modes in the fifth chapter. S. Murdza and Nowell outline the use of language boards with multiply handicapped, hearing impaired children in Chapter 6. A program for parents designed to increase the effectiveness of parents as educators of their children is reviewed by M. Guido in Chapter 7. The final chapter, by D. Peters and S. Landino, summarizes a three step program evaluation plan. An 82 item annotated bibliography is included. (PHR)
