Sage Research Methods Cases
This case study shares the research process of one upper level undergraduate research methods course for Communication Studies and Public Relations students at a mid-sized public college in the Northeastern United States. As a way to demonstrate both quantitative and qualitative research, students worked on survey design for three different populations of an annual weekend community-based event for elementary-school-aged girls. The 2013 event had 185 participants with the primary premise that by creating strong girls earlier in elementary school, they are better equipped to handle social pressures later in life. Students conducted primary and secondary research and coded and analyzed the final data collected from college women mentors, girl participants, and their parents/guardians.
