This guidebook is designed to assist teacher-coordinators in promoting home economics cooperative education programs in the school and the community. It is intended to be a tool for teachers working with prospective employers of students, recruiting students for the program, and interpreting the program to parents, administrators, and others. Information in the guidebook is organized according to the following United States Office of Education Home Economics areas: care and guidance of children; clothing management, production, and services; food management, production, and services; home furnishings, equipment, and supplies; institutional and home management and supportive services; and other home economics-related areas. These areas are keyed to Dictionary of Occupational Titles occupations approved for home economics cooperative education programs in Texas. The guidebook contains the following sections: (1) job analyses for the teacher to use when working with the employer to identify the tasks to be performed on the job by the student; (2) course unit outlines containing work experiences and study assignments related to each task in the job analyses; (3) a training plan which condenses the information from the work experiences and study assignments of the course unit outlines; and (4) an annotated list of required and supplementary references for each of the occupational areas, with order and price information.
