STEAM-ing up the Science Fair
Rufo, David
Art Education, v69 n4 p12-16 2016
For many schools, the science fair is a long-held tradition in which students are required to participate. For these children, and their families, this means 3 months of added stress to already rigorous academic demands. This article explores the methods in which students can take part in the science fair without having to sacrifice their creative agency. The author describes a strategy in which they guide the students through the scientific process, but also allow them to deviate from certain traditional science fair practices and instead, let their creativity drive the learning.
