Depressive symptoms and coping strategies of 161 Chinese adolescents were assessed using the Beck Depression Inventory and the Ways of Coping Questionnaire. Higher mean depression scores than those from U.S. adolescents were found to be related to avoidant coping strategies, as well as low self-esteem and reduced social support. (SLD)
