British universities' concern with adult education goes back more than a century. In France, however, it is only during the past decade that the tide of lifelong education has washed into universities and other institutions of higher education. Reports on an international program involving a bilingual summer school program for the elderly. Curriculum topics included aspects of British and French cultural and social life, the role of grandparents, self-help, and health maintenance.
