This report summarizes the major programs of the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) in Escambia County School District, Florida. The report identifies the district's concerns and priorities for the following: state-of-the-art, computer-assisted instruction for basic skills attainment; reconnecting dropouts through aggressive recruitment activities; prevention of dropouts through comprehensive career orientations; early intervention for vocational career options through summer programs; the attainment of youth competencies; vocational scholarship to job training programs for unemployed adults; and a commitment to job placement. This report contains a foreword, introduction, and acknowledgements. In addition, five other sections describe the following: (1) the Florida Private Industry Councils; (2) the service delivery area; (3) education programs--the Career Orientation Dropout Retrieval Program and the Skills Trades Insures Progress Youth Competency Project; (4) training programs--Practical Employability Skills, Pensacola High School Practical Arts General, Cooperative Distributive Education, Special Education On-the-Job Training and Summer Youth Employment and Training; and (5) employment programs--Senior Placement, Rural Resident Out-of-School, Rural Resident Adult, Wagner-Peyser, and Vocational Technical Placement Programs.
