Future Viability of Title IV Revenue: A Descriptive Study of Perceptions of Select ABHE Institutional Leadership
Palmer, Kris Russell
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, Lancaster Bible College
There is a looming threat to the economic vitality of the organizational community of intentionally Christian colleges and universities, relevant to the use of Title IV funds. Within the framework of organizational ecology, this qualitative descriptive study investigated and summarized perceptions of the leadership from sample ABHE Bible colleges to better understand how Title IV funds impact current resource allocations and institutional financial viability; how a potential loss or disruption in these funds due to the current political, legal, and sociocultural climate might adversely impact the institutions; and contingency plans if and when these funds may in fact be lost. Utilizing data collected through semi-structured interviews with key leadership from sample institutions, the findings revealed that a loss of these funds could have a catastrophic financial impact upon these institutions. Prevalent issues surrounding LGBTQ matters and regulatory concerns, such as Title IX, constituted the greatest environmental threats precipitating the loss of these funds. Although issues facing these institutions appear enormous, viable alternatives to compromise or extinction, through cooperation and collaboration, can help biblical higher education evolve without violating its core mission.
