With funding obtained from the Elementary Secondary Education Act Title IV-C, the Philadelphia School District awarded 40 mini-grants to individual teachers and other school district staff. The grants, ranging from $200 to $1,000, were awarded in March, 1979. These 40 programs were selected for implementation from a total of 398 project proposals. Approximately 5,600 students, from preschool to grade 12, participated in these programs, which covered a total of 14 subject areas, including special education. (This document consists mainly of project reports. These reports present the name of the program; discipline/subject area; name of person receiving the grant; school; grade level and description of students; class size; amount of grant; project status (complete/ongoing, etc.); overview; goals; materals and equipment; project implementation summary; project outcomes; and other comments.
