This report outlines accomplishments of the state of Maine in implementing the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Education Act during program year 1988-89. Information is provided for Title II, Part A (Vocational Education Opportunities Program) with regard to these categories: services for handicapped individuals, disadvantaged persons, adults in need of training or retraining, single parents and displaced homemakers, students in nontraditional programs, and services for criminal offenders in correctional institutions. Information is also provided for Title II, Part B (Program Improvement/Innovation/Expansion) in these categories: career guidance and counseling, curriculum development, personnel development, and program improvement. For Title III, Part A (Community-Based Organization Support Programs), information is provided for community-based, school-to-work transition programs. For Title III, Part B (consumer and home economics education), information is provided on programs and support services in depressed and nondepressed areas. Appendixes contain descriptions of exemplary programs and vocational education enrollment statistics for Maine for 1988-89 by program and by facility. (KC)
