Mentoring Programs for Aspiring Principals: Getting a Solid Start.
Walker, Allan; Stott, Kenneth
NASSP Bulletin, v78 n558 p72-77 Jan 1994
Districts planning to implement principal mentoring programs can increase their programs' chances of success by considering various issues, such as mentor selection, mentor/protege matches, essential hands-on experiences, and the value of reciprocation and time commitment. Successful mentoring depends on establishing trust, conveying expectations, training mentors, establishing the relationship away from the school environment, and fostering facilitator involvement and flexibility.
