Presented is the third and fourth state-of-the-art reviews on the use of calculators in education, prepared in August 1980 and August 1981. Each presents information concerning the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) "An Agenda for Action: Recommendations for School Mathematics in the 1980's" position on calculator and computer technology. Sections of the reviews report on research on calculator effects, evidence on availability and uses of calculators, surveys on beliefs and attitudes, development of instructional materials, and continuing concerns that need research and development effort.
