Preschoolers' Recognition of Numerical Equivalence: Sequential Sets.
Mix, Kelly S.
Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, v74 n4 p309-32 Dec 1999
Examined whether preschoolers could recognize numerical equivalence for comparisons involving sequentially presented sets. Found that children recognized numerical equivalence for static sets earlier than for sequential sets. Memory of the number of sequentially presented objects emerged earlier than memory for the number of sequential events. Counting ability was linked to success on comparisons involving sequential, but not static, sets. (Author/KB)
