Tendeiro, Jorge N.; Meijer, Rob R. – Journal of Educational Measurement, 2014
In recent guidelines for fair educational testing it is advised to check the validity of individual test scores through the use of person-fit statistics. For practitioners it is unclear on the basis of the existing literature which statistic to use. An overview of relatively simple existing nonparametric approaches to identify atypical response…

Egberink, Iris J. L.; Meijer, Rob R. – Assessment, 2011
The authors investigated the psychometric properties of the subscales of the Self-Perception Profile for Children with item response theory (IRT) models using a sample of 611 children. Results from a nonparametric Mokken analysis and a parametric IRT approach for boys (n = 268) and girls (n = 343) were compared. The authors found that most scales…

Nering, Michael L.; Meijer, Rob R. – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1998
Compared the person-response function (PRF) method for identifying examinees who respond to test items in a manner divergent from the underlying test model to the "l(z)" index of Drasgow and others (1985). Although performance of the "l(z)" index was superior in most cases, the PRF was useful in some conditions. (SLD)

Meijer, Rob R.; And Others – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1990
Mokken models of monotone homogeneity and double monotonicity and the Rasch model are compared using data from 990 young adult examinees taking a Dutch verbal intelligence test--the Verbal Analogies Test. The model of monotone homogeneity was found suitable for basic testing; more sophisticated applications appear to require parametric models.…
