(Re-) Framing Authenticity: Considering Multiple Social Identities Using Autoethnographic and Intersectional Approaches
Jones, Susan R.; Kim, Yoolee Choe; Skendall, Kristan Cilente
Journal of Higher Education, v83 n5 p698-724 Sep-Oct 2012
The purpose of this autoethnographic study was to explore the lived experience of identity construction and negotiation of multiple identities using an intersectional framework. Results present examples of the troublesome nature of authenticity as multiple identities were negotiated and managed based upon context and the influence of power and privilege.
