It is concluded, among other things, that although GIFT criterion related validity is modest, it predicts creativity about as well as other more complicated instruments, and its reliability is much better than teacher ratings or nominations; and that it also appears to have international and cross cultural face validity. Validation studies of the initial group inventory for finding interests (GIFFI) I and II were carried out with 1,024 students (grades 6-12). Internal consistency, reliability, and validity of the scales, which measure personality and biographical characteristics associated with creativity were substantiated. (CL)

Findings here indicate that an inventory can be constructed for a wide age range of elementary school children which can predict creativity. GIFT is easy to administer and score, and correlates with a composite creativity criterion, art teacher nominations, and scores on a Uses test. (Author/RK)
