Vocational Resource Educator Handbook. Revised Edition. Missouri LINC.
Boyer-Stephens, Arden
This handbook is intended to assist vocational resource educators (VREs) in fulfilling the role of a facilitator in mainstreaming handicapped students and assisting them in the transitions into vocational programs and into work. It is presented in a question and answer format and organized around seven goals for VREs: (1) develop a communication network; (2) assist in assessment and appropriate program placement; (3) facilitate the mainstreaming process; (4) serve as a resource to vocational instructors; (5) provide job placement and follow-up; (6) provide inservice for other staff; and (7) evaluate a VRE's program. For each goal, an extensive set of sample materials and resources is included. A 5-page glossary and a 2-page listing of vocational special needs acronyms is provided. Appendices provide postsecondary VRE resources, a description of services for the disadvantaged, resources for sex equity, Missouri definitions of handicapping conditions, and the history of the Missouri VRE model.
