Focusing on successful management of the school library media center (SLMC) as a system, this latest edition of an authoritative work addresses and integrates the many trends and developments of the past decade while maintaining the vision of the SLMC as the nerve center of the media system--a network of services oriented to the educational program of the school. Contents are divided into three parts. Part 1, "A Management Framework," describes the impact of global forces and the school district on the development and operation of the media center. It also contains a new section that examines the technical and human side of management and a discussion of how the library functions as an information superhighway.
