Theodore Roethke. Microcomputer Bibliographic Instruction.
Machalow, Robert
Designed to assist librarians in developing software packages to teach elementary bibliographic instruction on an individual basis with a microcomputer, this document describes four steps necessary to produce such a product. These include: choosing a topic with a limited amount of available library information; surveying the library's resources on the topic; formulating questions and assignments which will lead the user to the sources; and determining the steps the user should take to successfully complete the project as well as anticipating wrong decisions. Using as an example the topic of Theodore Roethke, text from sample computer screens are given for information searches from 73 reference sources, including directions for loading, suggestions for use of the specific reference material, and guidance should errors occur. A concluding index provides an alphabetical list of all reference sources cited; corresponding identification numbers within the document are noted. (JB)
