Children's Perceptions of the Qualities of Sibling Relationships.
Furman, Wyndol; Buhrmester, Duane
Child Development, v56 n2 p448-61 Apr 1985
Developed a framework for describing and assessing the qualities of sibling relationships by interviewing upper elementary school children and administering a self-report questionnaire to fifth- and sixth-grade children. Component analysis yielded four underlying factors: warmth/closeness, relative status/power, conflict, and rivalry. Relative status/power was strongly related to the relative ages of the child and sibling. (Author/AS)
