Reports results of a study which compared the treatment of selected characteristics of the reviewing literature of management in professional and trade journals. The characteristics examined included lag time, review length, descriptive or analytic nature of reviews, positive or negative evaluations, and affiliation of the reviewer. (CLB)

Acquisitions librarians at two different universities studied the performance of four serials vendors by ordering the same titles at the same time. The study shows which vendor performed best in areas of delivery time, discount, fulfillment, and service, and also provides supportive data for management decisions in acquisitions. (Author/EM)

This study of catalog headings for corporate names entered in direct order which appeared in 1981 bibliographic records of the Library of Congress, National Library of Canada, British Library, and National Library of Australia reveals that an average of 87.2 percent of each agency's headings matched one or more of others. A study comparing citations received by patents in given year to number received in subsequent years found that, even though influential patents remain influential, both highly and infrequently cited patents age at same rate. Examines characteristics of 50 frequently cited authors in the field of computer applications to education (CAE). Citation analysis used in the study is discussed, a taxonomy of topics in CAE based upon the writings of these authors is developed, and a comparison is made with data from the Social Science Citation Index. This study explored the use of the monographic literature in British and American literary studies and compared its findings with those of studies of humanities journals. It was found that book references were the predominant tool for humanities scholarship and that manuscripts were cited almost as often as journal articles. (EJS)
