Community-Based Science Research Program for Gifted and Talented High School Students.

A science research program in Ohio using community laboratories and personnel offers gifted high school students the chance to become involved with scientists in a variety of research experiences. Cooperation between community based staff and program staff is critical. Results of the six-year program have been very favorable. (CL)

The MOONBASE AMERICA project involved teachers and 96 secondary school students who participated in the project by helping to build MOONBASE, taking a space science course, creating a communications network, and completing a 7-day simulation in the MOONBASE structure. Teacher and student outcomes were evaluated. (MDH)
