In this article, the authors describe a creative counseling intervention called "pieces of me" that can be used by clients to identify and explore painful situations and interpersonal struggles, and to celebrate joyful experiences and therapeutic progress. Like most creative techniques, it is important that counselors build rapport with their clients, so they can freely explore their experiences and disclose "pieces of me." This process encourages clients to explore creative forms of expression, to reflect on their experiences, and to be resourceful as they work toward their therapeutic goals.
