Community Access Survey. Project REC.
Children's Hospital, Boston, MA. Training and Research Inst. for People with Disabilities.
Developed as part of a larger project to integrate youth with disabilities into regular recreational and leisure activities, this survey was developed for use in the assessment of public accommodations according to the minimum standards set forth in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The instrument utilizes a yes/no response format, with a section for comments following each area. The technical specifications used in the survey are based on those required by Title III of the ADA, the American National Standards Institute, and the Rules and Regulations of the Massachusetts Architectural Access Board. Subsections of the survey address transportation, parking, pathways (outdoors), general organizational structure, doors, ramps/lifts/stairs, elevators, corridors/lobbies, meeting spaces, bathrooms, libraries, places of assembly, swimming pools, and safety/emergency accommodations.
