This manual contains basic information about the Bibliographic Instruction Section (BIS) of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL). As of November 1984, BIS membership was approaching 3,000 with nearly 100 members actively involved in the section's committees. Following an introduction that describes the development of the BIS, this manual contains information on: (1) how to get involved; (2) organizational structure including an organization chart, the structure of the BIS, the relationship between BIS and ACRL, and other bibliographic instruction committees within the American Library Association (ALA); (3) procedural information including bylaws, a master calendar, required meetings, and responsibilities of officers and committees; (4) committee charges and membership lists for 18 BIS committees; (5) section activities and resources; and (6) an alphabetical listing of committee members. Appendices include three ACRL forms: Committee Volunteer Form; Budget Request Form; and Request for Payment Form; and the BIS Change of Address Form. (THC)
