Ruscio, John; Kaczetow, Walter – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 2009
Interest in modeling the structure of latent variables is gaining momentum, and many simulation studies suggest that taxometric analysis can validly assess the relative fit of categorical and dimensional models. The generation and parallel analysis of categorical and dimensional comparison data sets reduces the subjectivity required to interpret…

The Personality Psychopathology Five (PSY-5) is a dimensional descriptive system for personality and its disorders. The development of the scales, based on the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2), is described. Results with 3 clinical samples (total 1,680), a college sample of 2,928, and a normative sample of 2,567 support the…

Studies hypothesized and tested that a judge's discriminal process is a sample from a normal distribution of all possible discriminal processes for the MMPI stimulus set; that standard deviations of two distributions of binary MMPI decisions are equal; and that discriminative capacities of judges remain fixed from one decision session to the next.…

Thurstone's scaling based on judgments of 527 students and 37 clinical faculty members was applied to the Beck Depression Inventory, the Zung Depression Scale, and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory and fitted the observed data well.
