Compared the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory with and without the K correction for hit rate across patient (N=400) and nonpatient (N=200) groups. Results showed a total hit rate of 80.2 percent for the K correction and 78.3 percent for no K correction. (LLL)

Administered the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory and the Problem Solving Inventory to 20 Black and 32 White inmates. Recidivists scored significantly higher on the impulsive scale of the Problem Solving Inventory. The utility of employing elevated scores on the Depression and Psychasthenia scales of the MMPI as an indicator of a genuine, enduring clinical problem was investigated for a male college student population. Pilot data suggest that MMPI scale scores decrease following psychotherapy but not with the passage of time alone. (Author)

The relationship of moderately elevated Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) Scales 2 and 7 to psychological help seeking, problem type, and academic progress was investigated.
