International Journal of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, v31 n2 p274-286 2019
Although there is a robust body of research that has addressed the psychometric properties of the Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI) in different populations, no study has yet investigated the factor structure and congeneric reliability of the Arabic version of the Learning and Study Strategies Inventory, 2nd edition (LASSI-II) among Egyptian undergraduates. This study examined the test factor structure, the underlying factor structure of the subscales, and the congeneric reliability (omega coefficient) of an adapted Arabic version of the LASSI-II. Participants were 303 Egyptian undergraduate students. Results of confirmatory factor analyses revealed that each subscale had satisfactory goodness-of-fit indices. Results also confirmed the three-factor model (ER-GO-CA) proposed by Olejnik and Nist (1992) and refined by Olaussen and Braten (1998). Finally, results indicated relatively high omega coefficients for the subscales ranging from a low of 0.65 (Study Aids) to a high of 0.86 (Self-testing). Implications and suggestions for future research are presented.
