Zhao, Xin; Coxe, Stefany; Sibley, Margaret H.; Zulauf-McCurdy, Courtney; Pettit, Jeremy W. – Prevention Science, 2023
There has been increasing interest in applying integrative data analysis (IDA) to analyze data across multiple studies to increase sample size and statistical power. Measures of a construct are frequently not consistent across studies. This article provides a tutorial on the complex decisions that occur when conducting harmonization of measures…

Alvelo, Jaime; Cancio-Gonzalez, Rafael E.; Collazo, Andrés – Research on Social Work Practice, 2018
Purpose: This study was intended to adapt into Spanish and validate the short form of the Marwit-Meuser Caregiver Grief Inventory (MMCGI), an instrument for the assessment of levels of grief in caregivers of patients with dementia. Method: The adaptation was based on the cross-cultural equivalence model that included forward and backward…

Brouwer, Danny; Meijer, Rob R.; Zevalkink, Jolien – Psychological Assessment, 2013
The Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II; Beck, Steer, & Brown, 1996) is intended to measure severity of depression, and because items represent a broad range of depressive symptoms, some multidimensionality exists. In recent factor-analytic studies, there has been a debate about whether the BDI-II can be considered as one scale or whether…

Hoekstra, Rosa A.; Bartels, Meike; Cath, Danielle C.; Boomsma, Dorret I. – Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, 2008
The factor structure of the Dutch translation of the Autism-Spectrum Quotient (AQ; a continuous, quantitative measure of autistic traits) was evaluated with confirmatory factor analyses in a large general population and student sample. The criterion validity of the AQ was examined in three matched patient groups (autism spectrum conditions (ASC),…

Peer reviewedAmir, Nader; Foa, Edna B.; Coles, Meredith E. – Psychological Assessment, 1997
The dimensions underlying the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (Y-BOCS) (W. Goodman and others, 1989) were examined by performing a confirmatory factor analysis of the scale using responses from 404 patients. Results support a two-factor model of obsessive-compulsive symptoms, reflecting degree of disturbance and severity of symptoms. (SLD)

Krause, Elizabeth D.; Kaltman, Stacey; Goodman, Lisa A.; Dutton, Mary Ann – Psychological Assessment, 2007
Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) studies have suggested that a model of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) that is characterized by 4 factors is preferable to competing models. However, the composition of these 4 factors has varied across studies, with 1 model splitting avoidance and numbing symptoms (e.g., D. W. King, G. A. Leskin, L. A.…

Peer reviewedBagby, R. Michael; Parker, James D. A.; Joffe, Russell T.; Schuller, Deborah; Gilchrist, Elizabeth – Assessment, 1998
Confirmatory factor analysis was used to test the theoretical structure of the revised Personal Style Inventory (PSI) (C. Robins and others, 1994) with 869 nonclinical adults and 101 outpatients with depression. PSI items and subscales decomposed into factor structures that were fair to good representations of the theoretical model. (SLD)
