An inventory was constructed to screen children for psychiatric impairment. Factor analysis of the questionnaire items of child behavior yielded 18 factors. The 7 factors with the highest correlations with total psychiatric impairment were selected for the inventory, each represented by 5 items. (Author)

Scores on the Psychological Screening Inventory (PSI) were collected during freshman orientation and were used to predict need for counseling and type of presenting problem. Results showed the PSI was effective in discriminating seekers of counseling, presenting-problem category, and some process-outcome variables. (Author)

Investigated the extent to which the Wechsler and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI) provides items of sufficient difficulty for gifted children (N=306) aged four to six. All subtests investigated were found to have an inadequate level of difficulty, and six were inadequate for half or more of the subjects. (JAC)
