Amodeo, Maryann; Chassler, Deborah; Oettinger, Catherine; Labiosa, Wilfred; Lundgren, Lena M. – Evaluation and Program Planning, 2008

The concept of attendant care--provision of personal services to severely disabled individuals--is presented. Peer reviewedGreen, Rex S. – Evaluation and Program Planning, 2003
Applied an alternative strategy for assessing the extent of change clients undergo as a result of receiving human services. Psychometric properties of the approach were promising. (SLD)

Peer reviewedBirdsall, William C. – Evaluation and Program Planning, 1987
It is difficult to apply benefit cost analysis to human service programs. This paper explains "threshold benefit analysis," the derivation of the minimum dollar value which the benefits must attain in order for their value to equal the intervention costs. The method is applied to a mobility training program. (BS)

Differences in service utilization and community adjustment between community mental health clients with and without substance abuse disorders were studied for 144 outpatients, 37 percent of whom had dual diagnoses (substance abuse and another disorder). Effects of question length and explicitness of directions (format) were examined for 97 university students answering open-ended consumer satisfaction questions at 9 health promotion workshops. Question format, but not length, was related to the usefulness of answers. Implications for use and construction of open-ended questions are discussed.…
